Jaguar Jungle
Jaguar Jungle is a pattern design project. Here I wanted to explore the possibility of using a geometrical grid to produce organic shapes. With their beautifully spotted golden fur and terrifying growl, it is no surprise that ancient American cultures revered jaguars as gods.
The art inside the grid mainly stands for the habitat of the nocturnal hunter, the tropical rainforest. But if you take a close look at the ears, you will see fishes swimming in the water, a bird flying in the air and the footsteps of a tapir, which all represent some of the sounds that the jaguar perceives. Around the nose, the colors of the leafs are inverted to symbolize another way to grasp nature. Around the jawline, you can see trees standing for the strength of the jaguar. Similarly, the leaves around the mouth represents some blood spilled by natural forces. To this extent, this creation wants to enact the way jaguars “construct” the jungle around them, while being a representation of the animal itself.
